TICKET INFORMATION : -

TYPE OF TICKET

(1) Basic Ticket

A basic-fare ticket is the minimum necessary for all train travel.

In addition to the basic fare, one or more surcharges may be needed.

A non-smoking or smoking seat can be requested when reserving seats on most trains.

(2) Passenger are classified as follows

(3) Fares and charges for children

The discount for children is 50% of the adult fare for the basic-fare ticket, and Limited Express,

and Express reserved-seat tickets.

There is no children's dicount for Green Pass tickets, berth tickets and

some surcharges

(4) Fares and charges for infants and babies

Infants and babies travel free except that they need child's ticket in the following cases.

A) When three or more infants accompany one adult or a child; in this case, tickets are

needed for the third and any additional infants.

B) When an infant or a baby occupies its own reserved seat or berth.

C) When an infant travels alone.

HOW TO PURCHASE TICKET : -

Before departing for Tokyo, you can purchase an exchange order of your

JR Rail Pass at designated JR Authorized Travel Agents in your home country.

Before deaprture (within Malaysia only) .

Fare tickets for short-distance local trains can be purchased from automatic ticket vending

machines. Some machines provide information and instructions in English. You can use

your credit card or cash at any JR Ticket Counter.

In addition to tickets for JR lines, tickets for domestic flights, ferries, long-distance buses and

various events are available at any JR Travel Service Center.

How to buy ticket

Within Malaysia (before departure you can purchased at J-HORIZONS TRAVEL (M) SDN BHD

Please provide staff with the following information

1) Document need PASSPORT COPY & VISA COPY

2) What type of JR Rail Pass

3) How many days JR Rail Pass

4) Numbers of person (adults, child ~ age 6 to 11 years old)

** Ticket for short-distance trips can be purchased from automatic ticket vending

How to use the Excahnge Order / trains

Please exchange the exchange order in the Visitor Information Desk at Airport or others JR

Station or in the JR Travel Services Centers.

Open Hours 11:30 - 19:00 (all year-round)

We accept most major credit cards.(No travelers' checks are accepted.)

If you miss a train

Reserved-seat tickets and Green Pass tickets are not valid after departure of

the train specified, and no refunds can be made. The holder of a reserved-seat ticket who

has missed the train is entitled to be seated on an unreserved seat on a later train on the

same day.The full charge must be paid, however, if a reserved seat on a later train is used.

TICKET CHANGES AND REFUNDS : -

Change prior to departure

1) A valid unused ticket can be changed only once to a different ticket of the same category

without service charges, but there are some exceptions. Any difference in price will be

settled when the change is made.

2) If a second change is necessary, a new ticket must be purchased; the previous ticket

can be refunded at a station or travel agency, with deduction of a service charge.

3) A reserved-seat ticket can be changed only before the departure of the train on which the

original seat was reserved. The ticket is not valid after departure of that train.

4) A change of a reserved-seat ticket can be made at any JR Ticket Counter

(Midori-no-madoguchi) its business hours.

5) A change of a ticket purchased by credit card from a travel agency or at the counter of

a JR station can be made at the same travel agency or counter.

Change after start of trip

A ticket can be changed after the start of the trip; any surcharges involved must be paid, but

previously paid fares or charges will not be refunded except for fare tickets with an unused

segment of at least 101 km.

Refunds

Any unused, valid ticket can be refunded after deduction of the specified cancellation charge.

A ticket purchased by credit card from a travel agency may be cancelled through the same

travel agency.

Transpotation Services

The Japan Rail Pass is valid for the railways, buses and ferry boats

Railways : All JR Group Railways-Shinkansen"bullet trains" (except any reserved or

non-reserved seat on "NOZOMI" trains), limited express trains, express trains, and

rapid or local trains. (With some exceptions)

Buses: Local lines of JR bus companies (JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus Kan

JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, JR Kyushu Bus) and

some of JR highway bus services*. (Not valid for the JR Airport Bus service between

Central Japan Airport and Nagoya Station).

* Sapporo-Otaru; Morioka-Hirosaki; Tokyo-Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka,Tsukuba Center;

Nagoya-Kyoto, Osaka; Osaka-Tsuyama, Kasai Flower Center

Ferry: Only the JR Miyajima ferry is covered. The JR Hakata-Pusan (Korea) ferry is not covered.

Important notes :-

The JAPAN RAIL PASS is not valid for any seats, reserved or non-reserved on "NOZOMI" trains

on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines.(The pass holders must take “HIKARI” or “KODAMA” trains.)

If you use a "NOZOMI," you must pay the basic fare and the limited express charge, and for a Green

Note also that passengers using JR trains on non-JR lines must pay additional fares and charges for

sections traveled on such lines.
